Simply Bio Bags: Certified and Environmentally Friendly

Simply Bio Bags: Certified and Environmentally Friendly

At Simply Bio, we are proud to announce that our bags are OK Home Compost certified and BOI certified. Our bags are designed to break down in landfills due to the liquids and humidity from organic matter inside and the heat from the sun. By combining PBAT (Polybutylene Adipate Terephthalate) and PLA (Polylactic Acid), we have developed a product with maximum compostability and minimal environmental impact.
What is PBAT?

PBAT is a fossil-based polymer known for its exceptional compostability. Unlike traditional plastics, PBAT breaks down completely in soil through the action of microorganisms like fungi, algae, and bacteria. It does not release methane or toxic residues, making it a much greener alternative to conventional plastics. PBAT is widely used in trash bags, packaging materials, and food containers due to its strength and flexibility. By utilizing PBAT in our bags, we create compostable products that break down quickly and efficiently. We are transforming non-renewable resources into sustainable products that actually benefit our world.

What is PLA?

PLA is a plant-based bioplastic made from renewable resources such as corn starch or sugarcane. It breaks down into natural substances under the right conditions, such as in commercial composting facilities. PLA is commonly used in food packaging, disposable cups, and cutlery due to its strength, rigidity, and resistance to heat and moisture. While PLA is compostable, it requires specific conditions, such as high moisture and temperatures around 60°C, to break down effectively in home composting environments. This is why we combine PLA with PBAT, to prevent the need of high temperatures.

Why Combine PBAT and PLA?

Combining PBAT and PLA creates a material that is both flexible and strong, suitable for a variety of applications. PBAT decomposes faster than organic matter like banana peels, while PLA provides rigidity and strength. This combination ensures that our Simply Bio bags are not only durable but also compostable under a wide range of conditions. Our bags do not require extreme temperatures to break down. The PBAT and PLA in our bags work together to begin the composting process when they come into contact with liquids, heat, or decomposing matter.

Environmental Impact

Simply Bio bags are designed to be composted anywhere, breaking down efficiently in standard compost bins. This capability helps to reduce the need for commercial composting facilities and accelerates the composting process. Our bags start decomposing when exposed to liquids and heat, making them ideal for home composting.

Conclusion

While PBAT and PLA are excellent alternatives to traditional plastics, it’s important to remember that compostable plastics are not a complete solution to plastic waste. At Simply Bio, we advocate for reducing, reusing, and recycling whenever possible. By using our certified compostable bags, you are taking a step towards a more sustainable future.

Thank you for choosing Simply Bio and for supporting our mission to create environmentally-friendly products that help reduce plastic pollution.
